Former Big Brother Naija housemate Sultana BBNaija has visited Bassey Otu, offering to support the state’s tourism drive as an ambassador.
The visit was disclosed in a statement by the Cross River State Government following her courtesy call on the governor at his country home in Adiabo, Odukpani Local Government Area.
Receiving her, Otu described the visit as timely, particularly during the Easter period, and commended her for making the trip. He acknowledged her roots in Cross River, noting that the state takes pride in celebrating its indigenes, and expressed confidence in her potential for greater achievements.
The governor also praised her performance on the reality show, describing her journey as a reflection of resilience and courage in a highly competitive space.
Speaking on development priorities, Otu highlighted the growing importance of the creative economy, aligning her offer with the state’s broader vision. He said the government is open to working with her in areas that would strengthen Cross River’s position in culture, tourism and entertainment.
He added that the state is deliberately positioning itself as a leading destination in Nigeria’s creative and tourism sectors, with ongoing investments in infrastructure and cultural promotion, and assured her of institutional support to sustain her growth and expand her influence.
Otu said further engagements would be held to formalise areas of collaboration and involve relevant stakeholders in driving the initiative.
In her remarks, Sultana commended the governor’s leadership, particularly in infrastructure, tourism promotion and the rebranding of the state, noting that the progress recorded has been noticeable.
She expressed readiness to use her platform to promote Cross River, especially through flagship events such as Carnival Calabar, and pledged to contribute in any capacity the government considers appropriate within the creative industry.
Sultana also reaffirmed her connection to the state and expressed optimism that, with the right partnerships, Cross River can strengthen its status as a major hub for tourism and cultural excellence.
