The Kaduna State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Isa Ashiru Kudan has said attacks on his supporters will not intimidate or stop the party’s political movement ahead of the 2027 elections
The candidate, who spoke while addressing his supporters after the alleged attacks, said some members had their phones stolen while several vehicles were damaged during their movement at Toll Gate along Kaduna- Zaria highway on Tuesday
He urged his supporters to remain resolute, saying the incidents would not weaken their determination
“This regime will not reduce our determination What they did to us will not frighten us. They did it once, they did it twice, so remain strong,” he said.
The candidate said the alleged attacks had been reported to security agencies, adding that he personally contacted the Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) over the matter
“They caused damage to us and stole the phones of some of our members They damaged our vehicles. We reported the matter to the police.
“I spoke with the CP and the Director of DSS The CP said he would investigate and he sent his men to us,” he said.
He urged his supporters not to be discouraged, saying the group would continue to defend its members and pursue its political activities
“The first incident happened and we tolerated it So, remain strong and prepare yourselves because this is a serious struggle. We will protect our people even though we are law abiding citizens “he said.
The ADC candidate alleged that some individuals were using thugs to disrupt the movement, stressing that such actions were contrary to democratic principles
“What they are doing goes against democratic principles globally They are sending thugs to disrupt the movement,” he said.
He, however, appealed to Governor Uba Sani to intervene in the political situation and to release the former governor Nasir El-Rufai from detention
The candidate also said the ADC would soon unveil its political programme, maintaining that the party had no faction in its leadership in Kaduna State
The candidate also criticised the Kaduna State Government, alleging that residents had yet to see sufficient development despite the resources allocated to the state
“We will fight to liberate our people because nothing is working in Kaduna despite the millions of naira being given to the state,” he said
