Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has inaugurated the North Central Zone, State Coordinators of the Makinde/ Daura campaign Organisation, calling on them to move to all the communities and sell the candidacy of the Presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde
Addressing the coordinators, party leaders, supporters and other stakeholders at the APM campaign headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, Director-General of the Makinde/Daura Campaign Organisation, Felix Hassan Hyat, said Makinde is the best candidate and it is the responsibility of the coordinators to let the people know why they should vote for him
While telling them to take the campaign to every nook and cranny, Hyat said “This journey begins at the polling units and moves to the ward headquarters, local government headquarters, state headquarters and, ultimately, the national level Politics is local, and our work must be localised. Our mandate is to go to where the people are and share the most important product we have in Nigerian politics today: our presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde.”
Hyat, a former Minister of Aviation, said elections are fought, won and lost at the polling units and called on the coordinators to make sure that they appoint agents that can deliver
“Our polling unit managers and agents can determine our fate Therefore, if I know that an agent can determine my fate, I must also be careful about the kind of agent I appoint. If I appoint an agent who is not capable of doing the job, I should not be surprised by the outcome,’’ he said.
He also accused members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of ceding their mandate to President Bola Tinubu, instead of the people that voted for them
“If our representatives, who are answerable to the people who elected them, now claim to stand on President Tinubu’s mandate, they should remember that it was the people who gave them their votes Whose mandate, then, are they supposed to stand on?
“They have abandoned the people of Nigeria and are concentrating on one person Can we say that all is well with Nigeria under such circumstances? The answer is no. No, it is not.”
He said that is why the coordinators must take the message of APM to the people, saying “we must take this message to the people who will vote We must tell them that these representatives have abandoned them. I am sure they did not abandon the people without a reason. If they abandoned them for something, let them disclose what that is so that the people can make informed decisions.
“We cannot afford to continue this way Nigeria must change. We are looking to our fellow countryman, who has all it takes to save Nigeria. We must all rise to the occasion and do our part. We will certainly carry this through on January 16, 2027. Nobody should give up, and nobody should be discouraged.”
Responding on behalf of the coordinators, Usman Danladi Ibrahim from Kogi State, said they are aware of the task ahead, adding that many of them have been on the ground for a long time and ready for the task ahead
“We want to assure you that when we get to the field, what we will be telling the people is what they already know We want to assure you that the Makinde/Daura combination is what Nigeria needs,” he said.
