SOKOTO — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has pushed back against critics of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, defending the administration’s reform agenda and governance record as impactful and already yielding results.
The party’s position was contained in a statement issued in Sokoto by Malam Yusuf Abubakar Dingyadi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
Dingyadi accused opposition elements of orchestrating campaigns of misinformation through social media, aimed at discrediting the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
He described the circulation of what he termed false and misleading narratives as a sign of political desperation, alleging that some actors were prioritising personal interests over national stability and progress.
According to him, attempts to downplay the administration’s performance—particularly in northern Nigeria—through unverified claims should be rejected by well-meaning citizens.
The APC spokesman maintained that an objective assessment of the government’s performance shows measurable progress across key sectors, including security, infrastructure, agriculture, education and healthcare.
He said the Federal Government had rolled out policies and projects targeted at improving citizens’ welfare and driving sustainable economic growth.
“The use of reckless criticism and deliberate misinformation is unacceptable at a time the country is working to overcome longstanding challenges,” he said.
Dingyadi added that the party’s National Working Committee remained committed to supporting policies designed to strengthen the economy and enhance national security.
He highlighted ongoing efforts in road construction, housing, social intervention programmes and agricultural expansion as part of the administration’s broader development strategy.
Reaffirming the APC’s stance, Dingyadi said the ruling party would continue to defend what it described as the government’s genuine achievements while countering narratives aimed at distorting public perception.
He urged Nigerians to remain cautious of politically motivated misinformation and to support ongoing reforms, noting that constructive engagement is essential for democratic growth and national unity.
