Speaking at a World Media Briefing in Abuja on Thursday, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the convention as a defining moment for the APC. Scheduled for March 27–28, 2026, the event will bring together delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to elect new leaders, review party policies, and set a strategic course for the future.
“This is not just a routine political exercise, but a critical moment of reflection, consolidation, and forward planning,” Idris emphasized. He added that the convention underscores the APC’s resolve to strengthen democratic values, enhance internal governance, and align its processes with Nigeria’s national development priorities.

Under the theme “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the convention is designed to reinforce the APC’s commitment to inclusivity, continuity, and alignment with President Tinubu’s broader governance agenda. Idris noted that the party has evolved into a resilient political platform capable of managing leadership transitions in an orderly and transparent manner.
“Our diversity remains a key strength in promoting national unity and development,” he said, assuring Nigerians and the international community that all arrangements have been finalized to ensure a smooth, credible, and transparent process at Abuja’s Eagle Square.
