Barely 24 hours after the visit of African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftains to Bauchi to woo Governor Bala Mohammed, a powerful delegation of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, landed in Bauchi.
The delegation included the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, went into a closed door meeting with the governor and a few members of the National Assembly, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Abubakar Y Suleiman, the SSG, Aminu Hammayo, Chief of Staff, and others.
Though no details of the meeting was made public, an insider said it was a reaction to the move by the governor and his supporters to move to the ADC.
At the end of the meeting which lasted about an hour, anxious journalists were disappointed as none of the members of the delegation spoke.
As soon as they came out from the Governor’s Office, they headed into their respective vehicles to the airport and back to Abuja.
Governor Mohammed too, declined any comment when journalists tried to speak with him about the meeting.
Daily Trust had reported how Governor Mohammed indicated plans to defect to the ADC, saying the party has potential to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor noted that a final decision on the defection would be taken soon with a formal declaration expected by Thursday.
“We are very conscious of the timeline. Everything will be concluded by Thursday so that we can move forward together. You will hear a firm commitment from us,” he had said.
