The chairmanship candidates for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming local government elections in Edo State have emerged through the party’s direct congress arrangement.
Our correspondent reports that Romeo Omoike, a cousin to former Edo State Governor and current Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, emerged as the chairmanship candidate for Etsako West Local Government in the council elections slated for July 11, 2026.
Other chairmanship candidates include, Eric Osawaro Ikopa Okha LG, Egor LG, Osaro Eribo, Oredo LG Gabriel Idusere , Owan West LG, Enahoro Aikpokpo, Uhunwonde LG, Austin Imafidon, Etsako East LG Sunday Ekpeson, and Etsako Central LG Vera Sado.
Others are candidates of the party for the local government election are, Owan East LG, Ernest Oyade Aitelegbe, Ovia South West LG, Osarobo Anthony, Easn Central LG Prince Abdullahi Momoh, Orhionmwon LG, Thompson Osagie, Esan South East LG, Tega Aimiadgbho, Ovia North East LG, Eriamatoe Christopher, Igueben LG Endurance Atamegbe, Akoko-Edo LG Robort Akande and Esan West LG Ebodaghe Blessing.
In his speech, the local government primary election chairman, Abdullahi Bello, described the congress as peaceful and successful.
On his part, the state party chairman, Jarret, said the seamless and rancour-free conduct of the exercise is a testament of APC’s commitments to democratic principles that has deepened internal democratic culture and unity among members.
