The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State has strongly condemned the latest wave of bandit attacks across several communities, describing the killings of security personnel and civilians as alarming and unacceptable.
The party’s State Chairman, Lawal Tukur-Batagarawa, made the position known while addressing journalists in Katsina, expressing deep concern over the resurgence of violence in parts of the state.
He noted that the renewed attacks, particularly in Matazu and Musawa local government areas, highlighted what he described as a worsening security situation that requires urgent attention.
According to him, the incidents led to multiple casualties, including police officers and residents, while several homes and properties were destroyed during the attacks.
Tukur-Batagarawa lamented that the violence occurred despite earlier peace agreements reportedly reached in some of the affected communities, questioning the effectiveness and sustainability of such arrangements.
He further attributed the persistent insecurity to what he termed inadequate leadership and the inability of relevant authorities to provide sufficient protection for citizens.
“The primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property, and this must not be compromised,” he stated.
The ADC also extended its condolences to the families of victims and the affected communities, noting that the continued attacks have instilled fear and uncertainty among residents.
The party also called on government and security agencies to adopt more proactive and decisive measures to address the security challenges and restore lasting peace across the state.
