Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has urged residents of the Northern Zone to rally behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election, as former councillors from the zone pledged support for his senatorial bid
Fintiri made the call when former councillors from the Northern Zone, led by Hon Paul Samuel of Mubi North, paid him a solidarity and appreciation visit at the Government House, Yola.
The Governor said his administration had worked extensively to rebuild the Northern Zone and improve the living conditions of its people following the devastation caused by the 2014 insurgency
He said sustaining the development recorded in the zone and across Adamawa required continuity, assuring the delegation that his successor would build on the achievements of his administration
Fintiri urged the former councillors to return to their respective wards and communities and mobilise grassroots support for the APC to ensure the party’s victory in the 2027 elections
The Governor also assured them that his administration would look into their outstanding entitlements through the appropriate administrative channels
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Hon Paul Samuel said the former councillors visited the Governor to appreciate his administration’s achievements, particularly in education, healthcare, infrastructure and other sectors.
Samuel said the group comprised former councillors who served during Fintiri’s tenure as Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and had resolved to support his political aspiration ahead of 2027
He said members would return to their respective wards to mobilise grassroots support for Fintiri’s bid to represent the Northern Zone in the Senate
Samuel also appealed to the Governor to intervene in the payment of their outstanding entitlements, noting that previous efforts to secure the payments had not yielded results
The former councillors pledged their support for the APC and expressed their commitment to working for Fintiri’s senatorial victory in 2027
