Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Public Enlightenment, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has said the president deserves a second term in 2027 to consolidate ongoing reforms and translate them into greater prosperity for Nigerians
Abdulaziz said the administration had recorded significant achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic reforms, arguing that Nigerians should give Tinubu another opportunity to complete ongoing projects and deliver more tangible benefits to citizens
He spoke at the inauguration of the Kano State executive and local government coordinators of Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a support group campaigning for the president’s re-election
According to him, the group was established to counter what it considers misinformation about the administration’s performance, particularly in Northern Nigeria, by taking evidence of its achievements to the grassroots
“People will tell you that Tinubu has not done anything for the North, but the evidence suggests otherwise,” he said
He explained that A4A intended to promote evidence-based campaigning and equip voters with information to make informed decisions ahead of the 2027 general elections
Abdulaziz said the administration had invested in infrastructure and introduced reforms aimed at placing the country on a path of sustainable growth, adding that the next term should focus on converting the gains of the reforms into improved living conditions
“The next term is about consolidating the reforms, but also translating them into more impactful results, especially for the poor, for people to have prosperity,” he said
He described the proposed campaign slogan, “From Reform to Prosperity,” as a reflection of the administration’s intended direction for a second term
The presidential aide also cited the ongoing Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano expressway project as evidence of the administration’s infrastructure drive, pointing to the commissioning of a section of the road by the president, represented by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf
He argued that the quality of the road infrastructure demonstrated how resources freed up by the removal of the petrol subsidy were being channelled into development projects
On education, Abdulaziz highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), saying the programme was helping students from low-income families remain in school by providing loans for tuition and upkeep
He said the administration’s second term would focus more on improving household prosperity, including access to affordable transportation, food and other basic necessities
Speaking specifically on Kano, Abdulaziz said the state stood to benefit from the completion of major infrastructure projects, particularly the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project
He said pipeline installation had been completed and that a power substation was expected to be established in Kano, adding that the project included plans for a power generation plant with a capacity of about 700 megawatts
According to him, re-electing Tinubu would help ensure the completion of ongoing projects and create opportunities for Kano to attract further federal investments
He also urged Kano residents to support the president, arguing that the state’s political influence and voting strength could give it a stronger voice in negotiations for federal development projects
Earlier, the Kano State Coordinator of Arewa for Asiwaju, Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, called on the newly inaugurated executives and local government coordinators to strengthen the group’s grassroots structures and work towards Tinubu’s re-election
Gwarzo expressed appreciation to the organisation’s national leadership, led by its Board of Trustees Chairman, former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, and Director-General, former Jigawa State Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, for their support
He also acknowledged the guidance and support of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other stakeholders involved in the inauguration
He said A4A’s mission extended beyond political mobilisation to promoting national unity, inclusiveness, fairness and shared prosperity
“As we approach the 2027 general elections, we must work collectively and responsibly in support of the APC presidential candidate, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all other candidates of our great party,” he said
Gwarzo urged the newly inaugurated officials to demonstrate discipline, integrity and commitment to their responsibilities, while strengthening collaboration with party stakeholders and expanding engagement at the grassroots
He further called on members to ensure that their political activities remained peaceful, lawful and respectful of democratic principles
“An appointment is not merely a title; it is a call to service,” he said, urging the coordinators to place collective interests above personal ambitions
He expressed confidence that unity and sustained mobilisation would help the organisation achieve its objectives ahead of the 2027 elections
