Natasha Osawaru, the wife of Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has declared her ambition to become President of Nigeria someday
Osawaru, who is a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, made the declaration during the 92nd birthday celebration of her grandfather, Gabriel Igbinedion, in Benin City, Edo State
Speaking at the ceremony, Osawaru showered praise on Igbinedion, describing him affectionately as her “baby” and expressing her admiration for him as he grows older
She also promised her grandfather that she would work towards becoming Nigeria’s president while he is still alive
“You are amazing, you are like my baby right now, I love you so much As you age, you become sweeter and better, it is so amazing to be around you grandpa. I promise you that I will be the president of this country before you go,” she said.
A video showing the lawmaker making the remarks at the birthday celebration has circulated widely on social media
Osawaru represents the Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and was recently appointed the assembly’s Minority Leader
Following her appointment, she described the position as more than a political title, saying it represented a responsibility entrusted to her
“It is not a title but a trust,” she said
Osawaru’s political ambition comes amid her growing public profile, both as a state legislator and as the wife of 2Baba
She married the singer in July 2025, months after his highly publicised separation from his former wife, Annie Macaulay Idibia
The couple later held a dedication ceremony for their first child together in February
The marriage attracted significant public attention, particularly because of the circumstances surrounding 2Baba’s separation from Annie
However, the singer has repeatedly rejected claims that Osawaru was responsible for the breakdown of his previous marriage, maintaining that she was not the cause of his separation from Annie
