The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita, has urged residents to use the state’s 39th anniversary to reflect on the challenges confronting them and reject bad governance in the 2027 general elections
Kaita, in a statement issued on Thursday to mark the anniversary, congratulated the people of the state but said the occasion should also provide an opportunity for sober reflection given the insecurity, poverty and economic hardship facing residents
He said rather than focusing solely on celebrations, citizens should pray for divine intervention to rescue the state from what he described as its “current terrible situation”
According to him, a child born at the time Katsina was created 39 years ago would have attained adulthood, but the state is still battling insecurity, poverty and hunger
Kaita acknowledged that some past leaders contributed to the development of the state, but said residents had in recent years been living under pressure and in constant fear of attacks by bandits He therefore urged voters to “have a rethink” ahead of the 2027 elections by voting out leaders they consider to have performed poorly and electing focused leadership capable of addressing the state’s challenges.
