The Nasarawa State Government has denied reports alleging that Governor Abdullahi Sule held a secret meeting with Atiku Abubakar in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, during the lesser Hajj, where he was also said to have pledged financial backing to support efforts aimed at defeating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Addra, the government described the report as “a complete fabrication, false in its entirety, and did not happen.”
The statement said Governor Sule did not hold any meeting with Atiku or his associates during the spiritual exercise.
It added that the governor has consistently used every available platform to extol the leadership qualities of President Tinubu and to affirm support for the administration.
The government accused certain political actors of attempting to sabotage the relationship between President Tinubu and the governor, expressing confidence that the plan would fail.
The statement noted that Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, said he was unaware of any such meeting.
The Nasarawa State Government said APC governors are fully behind Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that no false report could affect their loyalty to him.
