Muhammad Daha Umar Faruk, the eldest son of the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Baure/Zango Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
Faruk, who holds the traditional title of Danburam Daura, said his decision was a response to persistent calls from constituents urging him to represent them at the National Assembly.
“I want to inform all my supporters that I, Muhammad Daha Faruk, have decided to heed their call,” he stated. “I have accepted to contest for a seat in the National Assembly to represent the Baure/Zango Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections.”
The young monarch also cautioned his followers against toxic campaigning, urging them to maintain decorum throughout the political process.
“I want to use this opportunity to urge all my supporters to refrain from any activities that may amount to ridicule or disrespect of anyone in the name of supporting me,” he added.
While Faruk did not explicitly name the political platform on which he intends to run, many observers believe the omission was a strategic move.
However, sources close to the candidate suggest he may eventually pitch his tent with either the All Progressives Congress (APC) or the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
