The coast is clear for the return of Senator Mohammad Danjuma Goje to the Senate in 2027 as stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe Central Senatorial District have endorsed him to continue in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
Stakeholders in Gombe Central Senatorial District comprising two local government areas; Akko and Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Areas have backed the return of Senator Goje for another term in the Senate and the second term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
On Friday, April 3, 2026, thousands of people from Yamaltu/Deba threw their weight behind Senator Goje’s return to the Senate, citing his experience and performance. On behalf of the people of the area’s 11 wards in Yamaltu/Deba, Dr Newton Moses, said the people of the area are fully behind the return of Senator Goje to the Senate come 2027.
In a similar vein, stakeholders of the party in Akko LGA converged in Gombe today (Tuesday, April 14, 2026, to back their counterparts from Yamaltu/Deba, reaffirming their total support for the continuity of Senator Goje in the Senate.
This is the outcome of an emergency meeting of stakeholders from the Akko LGA, held in Gombe today (Tuesday), convened following a courtesy visit by some government officials from Akko LGA to the Gombe State Governor on Monday.
Stakeholders of the two LGAs have written to President Tinubu through the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda to inform him of the resolution on the Gombe Central Senatorial District seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the end of the meeting, Prof. Mustapha Babawuro Yahaya of the Federal University Kashere, Gombe State, said it is the view of the generality of the people of the local government area that Senator Goje be allowed to continue representing Gombe Central Senatorial District beyond 2027.
” Democracy is fundamentally anchored on the will of the people, credible representation, and proven leadership. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria does not restrict legislative continuity, thereby allowing the electorate to retain leaders who have demonstrated competence, capacity, and consistent performance.
” Distinguished Senator Mohammad Danjuma Goje remains a symbol of experienced and effective representation. His years in public service have translated into meaningful development, strong advocacy, and visible impact across Gombe State and beyond.
” In Akko Local Government Area, there is a strong and widely shared conviction that Senator Goje continues to enjoy genuine grassroots support. This confidence is reflected in public opinion and sustained political engagement across his Senatorial District,” the people of Akko said.
They urged relevant authorities to uphold transparency and provide clarity where necessary, ” We emphasise that Senator Goje’s popularity and acceptance remain undeniable across Akko and Gombe Central Senatorial District at large.”
According to them, ” continuity in the National Assembly is not merely a political preference; it is a strategic necessity. Legislative effectiveness requires experience, institutional memory, and established networks—qualities that Senator Goje has developed over the years.
” His seniority and influence positioned him to attract increased federal presence, facilitate developmental projects, and ensure that the interests of our people are strongly represented at the national level. At a time when Nigeria is undergoing critical reforms and economic repositioning, the role of experienced lawmakers cannot be overstated.”
They noted that the recent political developments in Gombe State raise concerns that must be carefully considered.
” The president may wish to know that, the conduct of the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections reflected a significant decline in party performance. The APC lost two out of the three senatorial seats and five out of the six seats in the House of Representatives.”
They emphasised that true democratic governance requires transparency, inclusiveness, and respect for the will and aspirations of the people—principles that must not be compromised.
” It is therefore essential, that decisions regarding representation be guided strictly by the will of the people, rather than by imposition or undue influence.
” In conclusion, we, the people of Akko Local Government Area, reaffirm our total support for the continuity of Distinguished Senator Mohammad Danjuma Goje in the Senate.
” Our position is firmly rooted in democratic principles, constitutional legitimacy, and the enduring confidence the people continue to place in his leadership. We believe that sustaining his representation will ensure stability, progress, and greater opportunities for our constituency.
” We respectfully urge the leadership of the All Progressives Congress and all relevant stakeholders to heed the voice of the people, uphold internal democracy, and support the return of Senator Goje to the Senate,” the people said.
