MultiChoice Nigeria has announced that nominees for the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards will be revealed on March 29, setting the tone for one of Africa’s biggest film and television events.
In a statement shared via Instagram, organisers disclosed that the unveiling will air live at 7pm WAT on Africa Magic channels, with actor Chimezie Imo hosting.
The announcement marks the start of activities leading to the 12th edition of the awards.
Entries for this year’s event had earlier opened from January 11 to February 15, drawing submissions from filmmakers and content creators across the continent.
The awards, which celebrate excellence in African storytelling, will feature 32 categories, including jury-decided and audience-voted segments, as well as lifetime achievement and trailblazer honours. Organisers say the initiative continues to highlight the growth and global reach of Africa’s film and television industry.
Backed by premium brand Don Julio as lead sponsor, the AMVCA is positioned as a cultural platform recognising creativity and craftsmanship.
The ceremony is scheduled to be held in Lagos this May, with new categories expected to expand recognition for indigenous language content. Further details are expected in the coming weeks.
